Tracking the tags: an update on the sharp-shinned hawk project

This presentation will examine the migration of sharp-shinned hawks using the Motus Wildlife Tracking System. Using data on individuals tagged by Braddock Bay Raptor Research during 2024 and 2025,ย  I will relate movement data to body measurements and Capillariaย infection status. The project explores how oral capillariasis and physical condition may influence migratory performance and survival in these small raptors.
Presenter: Grace Dowdall is a masterโ€™s student in the Department of Environmental Science and Ecology at SUNY Brockport and has been banding raptors with Braddock Bay Raptor Research since 2023. Through her work with BBRR, she assists with long-term raptor monitoring and research projects focused on migration, health, and ecology.
