Introduction to Wildscaping: Making your Home a Haven for Birds, Pollinators and Wildlife
Combating climate change requires action on multiple fronts. From taking the lead of those most impacted by environmental degradation to demonstrating ecosystem solidarity at home, there’s a growing recognition of the need to reassess local, institutional and systemic practices. More and more people are considering the needs of their wild neighbors, including their preferred shelter, diet and migratory requirements and are applying this lens to their landscaping practices, transforming barren lawns to richly diverse habitat that will positively impact generations of species. NYS Master Naturalist and Class II Licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator Nat Smith will share insights from their own journey as a rehabilitator seeking simply to offer native foods at home, to a land steward seeking to nourish the future. Join us to explore practical ways to contribute to biodiversity preservation on the land you steward, whether it’s at home, work, or within your community. www.mawrcenter.org
