SUMMARY:Red-tailed Hawk Banding Research: Developing Nutritional Treatment for Hospitalized Red-tailed Hawks
DESCRIPTION:Using Information from Wild Red-Tailed Hawks at Braddock Bay to Guide Treatment Protocols for Nutritional Recovery in Hospitalized Red-Tailed Hawks\nLearn about current research on one of our most common raptors, the Red-tailed Hawk.  Find out how blood samples from red-tails banded at Braddock Bay can provide valuable information for treating injured hawks admitted to the wildlife hospital at Cornell University.\nPresenters: Dr. Sara Childs-Sanford is a wildlife veterinarian at Cornell University where she runs the Janet L. Swanson Wildlife Hospital. In addition to practicing clinical wildlife medicine on ill and injured native wildlife, she teaches veterinary students and graduate veterinarians wildlife medicine, and performs native wildlife research. Her current projects involve red-tailed hawks, sharp-shinned hawks, great horned owls, barred owls and North American porcupines.\n\n
